Hmmm...the scales lack depth to my eyes, but as a straight-up texture, it's great! If you have a flattened pattern, you could totally use it in a 3D render program, combine it with a bump or displacement map, add a specularity map for shine, yeah, you could sell that through Renderosity or Daz3D!
